Maria L.C. Tapia Elected New Board Member of the Lavelle Fund for the Blind

 

February 02, 2024 — New York, NY — The Lavelle Fund for the Blind has announced the appointment of Maria L.C. Tapia to its Board of Directors. An investment management executive with more than forty years’ experience who has spent more than a decade advising endowments and foundations on investment policy, spending, and asset allocation, Ms. Tapia most recently was Managing Partner of the Alternative Investment Group.

Previously the President of Commonfund Securities and an investment banker at Prudential- Bache Securities, Ms. Tapia has served on the Finance Committee of the Lavelle Fund since 2022 and has dedicated her considerable expertise to helping non-profit entities fulfill their missions through providing guidance on investment and corporate strategy, sustainable investing, and governance and due diligence issues.

Ms. Tapia earned an M.B.A in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a B.S. in Business Economics from the University of the Philippines. In addition, she has attended the Women on Boards Program at Yale University’s School of Management.

The Lavelle Fund for the Blind supports programs that help people who are blind or visually impaired lead independent, productive lives, together with eye care programs working to prevent and treat vision loss globally.
