About the Grantee
The Aravind Eye Foundation, formerly the Friends of Aravind, was founded in 2000 to support the Aravind Eye Care System in its mission to eliminate needless blindness and spread Aravind’s sustainable model of high-quality, patient-centric healthcare throughout the world.
Purpose of the Grant
To support the Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology (LAICO) in: (1) building LAICO’s capacity to provide standardized, modularized trainings in six specific organizational functions (e.g., outreach services, vision center development and operations) and (2) helping 60 three-person teams from existing South Asian eye hospitals to lead their respective hospitals in strengthening one of these competency areas.
